The calves venture outside…

May 8, 2012

First of all, here is a picture of a neat farm implement that we just got. It is old and needs a paint job but I think it is very elegant looking. Do you know what it is?

I’ll answer that in the next post.

Last Friday, Trev finished the electric fence around the back pasture.

Then we put in some posts and ran some wire to cross fence it. The calves don’t need to be in the whole thing and this way we can move them around.

Red was really interested in what was going on…

She will follow us anywhere so once we opened the door, she followed Trev right out…

…and settled in…

Opus, on the other hand, needed some convincing…

He was OK once he got out.

Axe came to the door and just looked…

He wasn’t at all sure about this. Remember, these guys have lived their whole lives in the barn. This is the very first time even being able to see outside!

Once he decided it was alright, he came out and got really excited…

Each of them approached the fence and seemed to sense that something was weird…

Each of them eventually got zapped a couple of times and then they all settled down to enjoy themselves. They tend to stick together in a tight group.

Lots of fun!

Today, (Tues) I mowed the lawn for the first time this summer. Nice to be out and able to do things again.

What fun! I love the pictures, keep them coming. I am guessing the tool is a seed planter.
