Small steps…

February 7, 2012

I took a job today (and tomorrow). It is working at a lab, propagating young potato plants. It was really interesting.

OK, OK, I know that I am procrastinating! I am so afraid of completely ruining ‘Celise’ that I find it hard to think about stitching her. I know that once I actually start (and if it looks good) I will be on a roll and it won’t take long. I took a whole year before I got up the nerve to stitch all over the top of my Cadillac quilt!

When I got home, though, I did get the quilt sandwich made and pinned Celise on top. She is ready to start stitching anyway.

I still don’t have a clue as to what kind of background design I am going to quilt on the black. I’m wondering if a patterned design will be too much or take away from the main image. Maybe I should just stipple it all over.

I am letting you in on the kind of thinking I go through with almost every quilt. Am I alone in this??

I’ll try and get started tomorrow and post a picture of my progress.

You know, I see the picture and know that those must be pins in the black background but it reminds me of the night sky with stars. I kind of like that but then would it through off the idea of shading? Hum..

I think for the background just keep it simple and stipple all over, but for her face follow her facial features so it adds to the image, just like the car fender and car hood. Make it more real and not just flat. Just a thought.

Does that black background have white or silver specks? Like that.
