Friday pictures

January 24, 2011

Here are some pictures as promised. It is hard to limit myself to even this number as I have been taking almost 200 shots per day! I don’t wish to bore you, but there are SO many lovely ones!

Anyway, I will start with morning in Willcox…a beautiful, calm, cool day.

We took off, excited because today was to be our last one on the road and began to see some real desert.

Here is just one of the beautiful walls and overpasses in Tucson.

And some typical desert architecture…

Great vistas everywhere!

Our first view of palm trees! Yay!

Okay, we saw lots of hillsides that looked like this…I was wondering what sort of plant/tree were growing on the slopes

Well, here’s a close-up…

That’s a lot of cacti!

At first, this looks like a palm tree, right?

Actually, it is a cell phone tower! Great way to hide it! Here’s what it looks like up close…

It is completely made of metal.

We arrived in the area near Quartzite (near the California border) and saw thousands of RV’s dry camping out in the desert. Here’s a small idea of what it looked like…

Here’s what the desert looks like when you add water…

I just like this shot…

This is the Coachella valley (where Palm Springs and Palm Desert are located)Notice the SNOW on top of the mountain to the right?! It is part of the Sierra Nevada range.

People can go up on a sky tram and experience winter! Go figure!

Arriving in Palm Desert…this is close to our new apartment.

I’m glad you have a camera capable of taking decent photos. Any way to make them bigger on here?

Great photos! ~ I think I saw a quilting subject; take those homes “typical desert architecture…” and lay them on top of an offset version of that blunted pointy mountain that you have titled, “Great vistas everywhere!” Add a few of those palm trees in and – voila!
LOL! See, now you have me thinking like that! 😉
Glad you are happy in your new location! I wish you both joy….
