Saturday – Day 2

January 16, 2011

Well, I am writing this after 13 hours on the road! We are both so tired, we can hardly stand up. It seems fitting that we are staying at the Inn in Bethlehem, doesn’t it?

We got up at 6:30 this morning, had the complementary brekky and headed out at 7:00. We drove to the border – they were great and we got our working visa with no problem and were off again. Let’s see…we drove through Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, and now we are in Pennsylvania! Wow!

I do have a bone to pick with Garmin, though…we checked the map when we stopped after a white-knuckle drive THROUGH New York City to find that there were easier ways to go! She took us over bridges where trucks were driving over our heads, through many small twists and turns with only 100m sometimes to change 3 lanes! We took one wrong turn because we were on one of those bridges and the satellite lost us. Garmin quit and by the time we were out and she found us, we had missed an on-ramp. She did a lot of ‘re-calculating’

Anyway, we’re safe and sound (and weary) so good night and I’ll let you know how things go tomorrow. I took lots of pictures but am too tired to post any. Sorry

What a day!! Glad you are safe and sound once more. Amazing how many states you drove through! That was a surprise. Pennsylvania should have neat barns, Amish and maybe even horses pulling wagons on the roads – though I imagine not likely on the highways you’ll take. The Inn at Bethlehem, eh? LOL!
By the way, who is Garmin? A GPS system? Those things are a mixed blessing…. Happy trails tomorrow!
    Love,
    Joan

Sounds like the adventure has begun. We’re already missing you like crazy and now that Trevor has newly disclosed packing talents, (the truck looked so neat!) I will commit that to memory. You’ve covered so much ground already no wonder you’re tired. Will pray for a restful night’s sleep for you both and for energized days to follow. I’ll check in tomorrow.
    TTFN.

    Love, Vikki
